Find killers of our Sister or face shutdown of DESPO- NAIG, NAIS tell Okowa, Police
Late Miss Oritsegbugbemi Udu

The raging storm over the mysterious death of Itsekiri born Miss Oritsegbugbemi Udu, an ND 2 student of Delta State Polytechnic, DESPO, Otefe-Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State appears to be gathering more momentum following a one-week ultimatum given to Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Zanna and the Chief Security Officer, CSO of the Polytechnic by the National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG and National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS to find killers of the slain student or face shutdown of the school.

In a Joint Press Statement made exclusively to Fresh Angle International on Friday July 8, the National President-Elect of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG, Comrade Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema and National President of National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS, Comrade Oritseneye Fredrick, expressed sadness that a week after “their sister and daughter”, Miss Oritsegbugbemi Udu was murdered and dumped in DESPO, Oghara Staff Quarters by “suspected ritualists”, neither the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Delta State Command of Nigerian Police nor the CSO of the School have made any official statement on the murder.

While wondering why the Delta State Government, the Police and the authorities of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara “have turn blind eyes to the gruesome murder”, the Itsekiri graduates and students’ bodies declared, “we thought her case would have been treated same way that of late Cynthia Udoka Osokogu was treated when she was found dead in Lagos August 2012. We begin to wonder if that of late Cynthia Osokogu was treated differently because she was a daughter of a General. We are shocked that the Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education too has not issued any statement condemning the act of killing an innocent school girl. Our birthday message to His Excellency, the State Governor, Dr. Okowa whose birthday is July 8, is simply, find her killers and bring them to justice.”
