A Socio-political pressure group, Concerned Niger Delta Coalition, CNDC made up of youths from the five ethnic nationalities in Delta State has condemned the various militant groups in the State over their persistent attacks of Chief Ayirimi Emami’s personality, accusing the militants of losing focus of their self-imposed mandate of freeing the region of its long suffering and neglect.
Addressing a select-group of Journalist at their Ugborikoko base in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, Saturday June 18, National President of the CNDC, Comrade Edisson Torugbene said, “it is painful that the whole struggle have been reduced to a personality game for purely selfish gains as it would appear that Chief Ayirimi is their problem when it is even obvious to all of us that the young man, not minding whether he is Itsekiri or not, is saying the truth. Why do they always call only his name and fail to mention his so-called Ijaw cohorts. It is because they know their boys would kill them immediately”.
According to the CNDC President,” the various attacks on the personality of the young man by these groups shows a total lack of focus and a bid to make the so-called struggle another Itsekiri/Ijaw tribal matter, which it is not. It is a wicked plan to destroy and intimidate the itsekiri people. That is why they are afraid to join us in the struggle because it appears there are ulterior motives behind the struggle now. Look at it again, Tompolo is accusing Chief Ayirimi Emami of being behind his predicament and using the Avengers against him to portray him in bad light before the federal government. Now the avengers are accusing the Itsekiri man of re-branding, re-regrouping and re-arming Tompolos’ MEND to frustrate and undermine their aims and objectives of crippling the Nigeria economy. So you see, they are fooling the rest of us”.
The Public Relations Officer of CNDC, Mr. Omajuwa Gbenebitse-Otu stated that the only way other Niger Delta Nationalities can be said to be part of the struggle was for them to come together for proper discussion on issues affecting them and fashion out the way forward.
