Delta: Tribunal upholds lawmaker’s election
Hon. Davies Omatsone

The Delta State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Warri has upheld the election of the member representing Ugbegungun Ward 2 in Warri South-West Local Government Council Legislative Arm, Hon. Davies Omatsone.

Chairman of the three-man tribunal, Mrs. A.T. Akujobi who gave the judgment Monday August 3 in Warri, declared that the petitioner Sunday Asawa of the All Progressives Congress, APC through his counsel could not prove his case beyond reasonable doubt and upheld the election of Hon. Davies Omatsone of the PDP.

The judgment which sent supporters of Hon. Davies Omatsone, brother to one-time Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. J.F.K. Omatsone into wild jubilation is coming on the heels of series of judgment which has seen the nullification of election of three PDP candidates in Warri North Local Government Area, with the tribunal ordering Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC to conduct fresh election in the affected wards within 21 days of the judgments.

Fresh Angle International learned that Warri based legal practitioner, Barr. Lawson Umuze was counsel to Hon. Davies Omatsone and he was in the tribunal to make his final submission before Chairman of the tribunal delivered judgment on the petition brought by the APC candidate.
