A group of graduates under the umbrella of Graduates of the Niger Delta, GAND have accused Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as well as former Acting Governor of the State, Hon. Sam Obi of allegedly conniving to loot Delta State of N100billion.

The President of GAND, Comrade Progress Omo-Agege who spoke exclusively to Fresh Angle International during a protest in Warri Monday July 6, said Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa was the one who mid-wife and tutored Sam Obi. According to him, Okowa’s Aides automatically became Sam Obi’s Aides, adding that one of them even became the Director of Protocol under Sam Obi, engineering the administration and within three months allegedly incurred a N100billion debt in the name of Delta State.

Comrade Omo-Agege while stating that Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa confessed that Delta State is indebted to the tune of N636 billion purportedly inherited from the Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s administration, challenged Governor Okowa to make more revelations regarding the true financial record of Delta State, vowing that the interest of GAND is to ensure that all the state funds misappropriated is refunded without shielding anyone.

The pressure group which prides itself as non-political, comprising of different ethnic groups in the Niger Delta called on President Muhammudu Buhari “to beam his anti-corruption search light on Delta State to ensure that the likes of Okowa and others are brought to book.”

They alleged that nobody voted for Dr. Okowa and called on the Justice Gunmi led Delta State election tribunal to annul the election that declared Dr. Okowa winner of the state gubernatorial election held April 11, 2015.

Our Correspondent reports that the protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as “Sam Obi Borrowed over N100B in 60 Days”, “Okowa Looted Thru Sam Obi” and “Justice Gunmi Annul Delta Guber Election Now!!!”.
