INYC commends President Goodluck Jonathan on move to resolve EPZ standoff

The Public Relations Officer of Itsekiri National Youths Council, INYC, Comrade Gbubemi Abigor has on behalf of the Council commended the President and Command-in- Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on his renewed efforts to resolve the deadlock surrounding the groundbreaking ceremony of the EPZ in Ogidigben.

Comrade Gbubemi Abigor who spoke to pressmen at the building site of the permanent secretariat of the INYC in Odion Road, Warri, stated that the major grudge that the Itsekiri youths have against the President is his “mysterious refusal to proceed with the EPZ groundbreaking ceremony”.

He called on the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to drive the process of the resolution of this deadlock in a manner that would depict him as the father of all and the President of the whole country.

He further said that while the INYC commends the recent step by the President to resolve the matter, it is studying very carefully the details of this resolution with a view to ensuring that the rule of law is not compromised, “particularly the existing geographical map of the area and the history of land ownership, so as not to exacerbate the situation”.

He said, “the INYC led by Comrade David Tonwe as the only legally recognized umbrella youth body of the Itsekiri ethnic extraction, is fully in support of the peace process”, even as he cautioned members of the public to “beware of the existence of some impostors parading themselves as members of the INYC with a view to seeking relevance for pecuniary gains in this election circle”.

The INYC Image Maker urged the President to take advantage of the window offered by the extension of the polls to address outstanding issues surrounding the EPZ, noting that other segments of the society, particularly the traditional institutions and the leaders of thought should be carried along in the resolution process.
