Jonathan breezes into Warri

Residents of Warri, the commercial nerve centre of Delta State today woke up and discovered the presence of stern looking security men who condoned off roads leading to the Olu of Warri palace, only for those with curious mind to be hinted that President Goodluck Jonathan was billed to visit the Olu of Warri.

As early as 10:00 am, curious Itsekiri sons and daughters who heard that the President will be visiting the Warri Monarch by 11: 00 am started arriving the Olus’s Palace arena with the intention of hearing President Goodluck Jonathan speak publicly on the controversies surrounding the non performance of the Delta Gas City (EPZ) Ground Breaking Ceremony which has been aborted twice over alleged insecurity.

Those who surrounded the Olu Palace had to wait till 5: 37 pm when President Goodluck Jonathan arrived the Monarch’s Palace in a black Benz 560 SL in-company of Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Our Correspondent reports that the President and his delegation immediately entered the Olu’s palace and media men were shut out from the over 20 minutes close door meeting, which was attended by some members of Warri Traditional Council, including Chief Ayirimi Emami and Hon. Daniel Oritsegbubemi Reyenieju of the House of Representatives.

It was also reliably gathered that before visiting the Olu’s Palace, President Jonathan made a 25 minutes stop over at the Warri private residence of National President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayodele Joseph Oritsejafor for a private meeting.

Though details of the President’s meeting with the Olu of Warri and members of the Warri Traditional Council was not made public, a source at the meeting disclosed that issues discussed centred around the aborted Ground Breaking Ceremony of the EPZ which has been agitating Itsekiris of Delta State, with several Itsekiri groups vowing to back the General Muhammadu Buhari Presidential bid as a result of the indefinite postponement of the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the EPZ.
