As the tempo of political activities gather momentum with speculations rife that PDP gubernatorial candidate for Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa may settle for an Ijaw man as his running mate, Fresh Angle International has scooped that Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru is seriously considering picking his running mate from Itsekiri ethnic Nationality.
Though details of the move was still sketchy as at the time of this repor,t Fresh Angle International has it on good authority that Chief Great Ogboru, popularly called “The People’s General” by his admirers has already contacted two prominent Itsekiri Leaders to assist him in the search to get a credible running mate from Itsekiri extraction.
The move may not be unconnected with mounting speculations that High Chief Government Ekpemupolo A.K.A. Tompolo and his Ijaw kinsmen may have struck a deal with Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to pick an Ijaw man as his deputy.
The renewed move by Chief Ogboru if really he is serious with the lobby may have laid to rest speculations that he might be President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s joker for Delta State Government House come 2015.
It would be recalled that Chief Ogboru twice lost the gubernatorial elections to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan as a result of block votes from Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas dominated by Itsekiri people.
Meanwhile, Fresh Angle International has also learnt that some itsekiri PDP leaders who have been working with Dr. Okowa, but now appears to be losing grip due to the Ijaw sudden romance with the PDP gubernatorial candidate weekend held a meeting with their Isoko counterparts.
Details of the meeting were not immediately known, but it may not be unrelated with fresh demands by the Isoko Development Union, IDU for Isoko ethnic Nationality to produce the next deputy governor of Delta State under the PDP platform, despite the fact that Senator Okowa may have settled for Ijaw deputy.
