EPZ: We can no longer accept this postponement-Tenumah
Alero Tenumah

As the outrage continues among Itsekiris of Delta State over President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s decision to abort the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Export Processing Zone, EPZ at Ogidigben which was slated for Friday November 14, the Alero Naomi Tenumah leadership of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG have condemned the latest postponement.

In a statement made available to Newsmen in Warri, Comrade Tenumah averred that Members of the association like other Itsekiris were shocked to receive the news of the postponement after “huge anticipation and preparations”.

According to her, the mere fact that some individuals will take advantage of “the reality that they are of the same ethnic nationality with the President to issue threat to the entire country for a project intended to better the lot of not just the Itsekiris but all Nigerians, clearly shows while the Boko Haram insurgency is thriving and the level of ethnicism which is embedded in the federal government”.

Tenumah averred that the reasons adduced by the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Alison Deizani Madueke that there are communal issues that needs to be resolved before the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the EPZ will take place “is unconvincing and cheap government diplomacy to cover the Presidency sentimental bias”.

She called on the federal government to ignore the threats by his kinsmen and fix a fresh date for the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the EPZ at Ogidigben immediately “to convince the Itsekiri people that it is not bias”, adding that Ugborodo Community where the project is situated is very peaceful and ready to partner the federal government to ensure the realization of the legacy project.
