Police shoots armed robber in gun duel

The police at Enerhen Division, Uvwie local government area have shot an armed robbery suspect identified as Alex Akuraku and arrested him, while the other three members of the gang escaped.

The gun duel is sequel to a report by one Akpome Gabriel of Oke Isodje Lane, Otor-Ovhe in Isoko North local government area that four robbery suspects operating in a black Camry Car robbed him of the sum of nine hundred thousand naira on gun point at Okorodudu Junction, Effurun.

It was as a result of the report that a patrol team immediately moved after the hoodlums. The hoodlums on sighting the patrol team around Hotel De Mark, Effurun, opened fire on the police team and it was in the ensuing gun battle that Alex Akuraku of Ufoma Street, off Udu road, after Udu Bridge was caught in the cross-fire and was arrested.

In another development, operatives of Dragon Patrol team 02 on duty along Asaba/Benin Expressway have intercepted one L300 bus.. with Reg. No. XC755 ATN driven by one Ezenwa Nwachukwu.

The bus was loaded with suspected 500 turkeys belonging to a former Acting Governor of Delta State. The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, mentioned his accomplice and led detectives to Ekwuoma town where the said accomplice, one Dominic Wayes was arrested.

It was revealed that the birds were robbed from various farms in Agbor. Three hundred and fifty-eight life and one hundred and thirty five dead layer birds have been identified and handed over to Royent Farms Agbor, while two hundred and twenty-two life and fifty 50 dead layers were equally identified and handed over to Lawisco Farms.
