Money Laundering: Why Ibori pleaded guilty-Emami

Popular Niger Delta activist, Warri Chief and Leader of Concerned Deltans, Ayirimi Emami says former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori pleaded guilty to money laundering charges at a UK Court so that “political solution could be reached for his release”.

Chief Emami who dropped this hint Monday August 4 in Warri during a peaceful protest organized by Concerned Deltans as part of activities to mark the 56th birthday anniversary of Chief James Ibori, averred that the Federal government is not doing enough to release Ibori.

The PDP Chieftain vowed that members of Concerned Deltans will continue the struggle until the ertswhile Delta governor and proponent of resource control is released.

He said, “we will keep on fighting till Ibori is released, we are still very loyal to him and we are calling on the federal government to release Ibori, because that is our interest”.

The protesters comprising of the Esimaje leadership of Itsekiri National Youth Council, some PDP leaders in Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North local government areas carried placards with inscriptions such as, “Bring Back James Ibori, “Ibori at 56, Bring Back James Ibori”, Resource Control Struggle is alive” and “Bring Back Chief James Ibori”.

 It would be recalled that on August 4, 2013, Chief  Ayirimi Emami organized a novelty football match at Oghara Township Stadium in Ethiope West local government area between two selected sides in Delta State to mark the 55th birthday anniversary of the two-time Delta State governor and Chieftain of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic  Party, Chief James Ibori.

It was also gathered that as part of Chief Ibori’s birthday celebration, a special dinner will be held Monday August 4, 2014 at the new 911 Spot Bar in Warri at the instance of Chief Ayirimi Emami.
