Alleged Threat to Life: Ex-Warri South-West Chairman, Tonwe sues for justice
Hon. David Tonwe

Following the recent pockets of violence that erupted in Warri over the failed Ugborodo Peace deal, a former Chairman of Warri South-West local government and prominent leader in Ugborodo, Hon. David Tonwe has called on the relevant authorities to wade into the crisis with a view to ensuring justice, alleging that a 10-man gang recently set two vehicles ablaze at his residence which is a walking distance from the police ‘A’ Division in Warri.

Hon. Tonwe in a Press Statement made available to Fresh Angle on Sunday August 3 also alleged that the arms and ammunition used by those responsible for the July 28, 2014 violence in Warri were conveyed to the affected location “in the Hilux vans attached to Community Police Unit donated to it by DESOPADEC”.

It would be recalled that fresh violence recently occurred among indigenes of Ugborodo Community following failure of the feuding parties to seal a peace deal at Ugborodo over insistence of some indigenes of the community that some of its prominent sons earlier barred from entering the community make some traditional sacrifices before they will be accepted back into the community, the presence of men of the Nigerian Navy notwithstanding.

The fresh crisis has led to the burning of a house belonging to one Ofeoritse Nene at Egbokodo Itsekiri in Warri, setting ablaze of his vehicles, attack of some other homes as well as earlier attack of the home of one of Isaac Botosan’s parents in Ugborodo, Warri South- West local government area.
